Transport was an internationally minded touring theatre company based on the south east coast of England that toured throughout the UK and abroad until 2017.

 

Through collaboration it produced striking ensemble led theatre, telling stories about the movement of people.

 

The company was an associate company at the New Wolsey Theatre, Ipswich and Quarterhouse Folkestone as well as a resident creative at Hackney Empire, London. It made ten productions and toured to over 50 theatres in the UK and abroad including the Barbican, Unicorn Theatre, Dundee Rep, Salisbury Playhouse, New Wolsey Theatre Ipswich, Tobacco Factory Bristol, Le Grand Theatre Luxembourg and Theatre503, developing most of their projects at the National Theatre Studio. Their Edinburgh Festival hit Elegy still receives international productions of its award-winning script - including Spain, Australia, Mexico and Brazil.

 

Transport was supported by Arts Council England, Complicte, European Cultural Foundation, Roger de Haan Foundation, Creative Foundation, Bath Theatre Royal, Peggy Ramsey Foundation, House, British Council, PRS and Kent County Council.

The company was headed by theatre director Douglas Rintoul who is now the artistic director of the regional producing theatre Queen's Theatre Hornchurch and independent producer Emma Cameron.
